Official Dates to fly the American Flag at Half-Mast

 

On the following days, the flag is to be flown at half-mast for the entire day:

 

·        May 15, Peace Officers Memorial Day

 

·        July 27, Korean War Veterans Day

 

·       September 11, Patriot Day 

 

·        December 7, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

 

 

On the following day the flag is to be flown at half-mast till noon:

 

 ·        Memorial Day, last Monday in May 

 

If your flag can't be at half-mast. . .

 

·        For flags, on a staff, that can’t be lowered, such as those on many homes, the flag should have a black ribbon or streamer attached to the top of the flag.  The ribbon should be the same width as a stripe on the flag and the same length as the flag.

 

·        For a wall mounted flag, three black mourning bows should be attached to the top edge of the flag, one at each corner and one in the center.

 

 

Other Times...

Other days as proclaimed by the President of the United States, or locally as proclaimed by the Governor of your state.
